Solidão e bem-estar subjetivo em pessoas em situação de sem-abrigo

Abstract

O presente estudo visa caracterizar os participantes em situação de sem-abrigo e compreender a relação entre a solidão e bem-estar subjetivo (afetividade positiva e negativa) em relação aos fatores sociodemográficos, tais como, o sexo, o grupo etário e tempo de permanência em situação de sem-abrigo. A amostra do presente estudo é constituída por 172 participantes, sendo que 84.2% correspondem ao sexo masculino e 15.8% ao sexo feminino, com idades compreendidas entre os 20 e os 70 anos de idade. Relativamente aos resultados do estudo sublinhamos por exemplo, que a solidão é melhor preditor do bem-estar subjetivo (satisfação com a vida, afetividade positiva e afetividade negativa) do que as variáveis sociodemográficas. Esta informação tem certas implicações e vai de encontro a outras investigações que têm revelado que os fatores sociodemográficos explicam apenas uma pequena parte da variância do bem-estar subjetivo (Simões et al., 2000). Outro resultado que importa referir é a existência de uma correlação negativa entre a solidão e a satisfação com a vida. Através da realização deste estudo, verificamos que a solidão é uma dimensão que assume diversas implicações na vida dos sem-abrigo, inclusive ao nível da satisfação com a vida e importa encontrar respostas a esta situação. O “Housing First” surge como um começo e uma potencial solução, visto que, atribuí um papel ativo a nível pessoal e comunitário, facilitando assim o processo de integração social das pessoas que vivem em situação de sem-abrigo (Ferreira, et al., 2015).

The present study aims to characterize the participants in an homelessness situation as well as understand the relationship between loneliness and subjective well-being (positive and negative affectivity) regarding the sociodemographic factors, such as, the gender, the age range, and the duration of the homelessness situation. The sample of this study is composed by 172 participants, and taking into account that 84.2% correspond to male gender, and 15.8% to feminine gender, all aged between 20 to 70 years old. Regarding the results of my research, we can underline, for example, that loneliness is a better predictor of the subjective well-being (life-satisfaction averages, positive affectivity and negative affectivity) than the sociodemographic variables. This statement has certain implications and it is corroborated by other research projects. Those investigations have been unveiled that the sociodemographic factors only explain a small part of the variance in subjective well-being (Simões et al., 2000). Another conclusion that should be mentioned is the negative correlation between loneliness and life-satisfaction. Through the performance of this study, we realize that the loneliness is a dimension that cross a wide range of implications on homeless life. For example, on satisfaction with life level. Where, it is crucial find to answer to this situation. The “Housing First” seems to be a solution in this scene. Since, it assign a active character on individual and community level, allowing to social integration of homeless people (Ferreira, et al., 2015).
