The present study is aimed to analyze the thermal contrasts and hygrometric, topoclimatic scale in urban and periurban space of the city of Aracaju. The study found significant evidence of topoclimatic contrasts in intraurban space, leading to substantial evidence of the occurrence of heat islands in the mentioned city. This was possible by comparing the data of temperature and relative humidity from urban weather stations of City Park (PC), City Centre (CC) and the National Institute of Meteorology (INMET) with the data from the weather station INFRAERO (INFRA), which is located in Santa Maria Airport and thus of a more suburban character. In addition, data derived from observation points distributed in various parts of the city was compared using a mobile transect. During the time period of research, the thermal and hygrometric differences within urban area and between the urban and periurban area of Aracaju became clear. This is shown by the relative frequency of occurrence of differences in maximum temperature higher than zero (%> 0), exceeding it in 96% of the times in the city centre. The heat island in the centre of its itra-daytime rhythm was more intense when the values of - %>0 – stood at around 100% during late morning until evening. In contrast, the warmest nucleus during the late night, dawn and early morning passed PC-INFRA, in which the values were above 50%, because during a short period of morning was when the INMET-INTRA exceeded 50% and became warmer. At the thermal field It was possible to observe heat islands of strong magnitudes reaching 7.5ºC in contrast to the surrounding area, while the hygrometric field was more pronounced, with difference of 20%. In addition, urban morphology and topoclimatic contrasts are extremely related. The higher temperatures associated with heat islands can be unwanted for health reasons and can interfere with the human bioclimatic comfort and for economic effects attributed to increase energy consumption for the cooling of buildings. Accordingly, in order to study the development of urban climate of Aracaju, a new urban network of meteorological instruments should be taken into account, quoting the notable absence of no historical records of temperature and relative humidity in industrial areas, in centre of city or parks green. A linked network of weather stations would be an opportunity for urban understanding of various weather phenomena and their effects on the population.
