Title: | Desenhar a verde : um estudo comparativo entre a arquitectura sustentável high-tech e low-tech | Authors: | Almeida, Eduardo José Marques | Orientador: | Byrne, Gonçalo | Keywords: | Arquitectura sustentável; Meio ambiente | Issue Date: | Jul-2012 | Citation: | Almeida, Eduardo José Marques - Desenhar a verde : um estudo comparativo entre a arquitectura sustentável high-tech e low-tech. Coimbra : [s. n.], 2012. The global awareness of the necessity to protect the environment and minimize the negative effects of human activities to the Planet is growing ever more urgent and obvious. Since building, using and demolishing buildings involves high energy and material consumption and waste production, architecture has a major role in facing this challenge before us. This paper focuses on analyzing not only the issue of sustainability in buildings, but also on the comparison between two distinct styles of sustainable architecture, the high-tech and low-tech. The two are a result of different historic contexts, not only in respect to their formal characteristics, but also the underlying philosophy and reasoning. Through this comparison one can try to understand how to design in a sustainable way and also how are the concepts and mechanisms of these different approaches practically defined in a way that will allow us a better understanding of its results. | URI: | https://hdl.handle.net/10316/20973 | Rights: | openAccess |
