Paisagem, Plano e Arquitetura. O caso de Ofir

Abstract

Planned as summer clusters, the residential holiday resorts gained expression in the post-war period of economic development. Their compositions have a unique set of residences designed for this purpose, contributing to the definition of the typology of modern holiday home. In Portugal, there are four centers of this type: Moledo do Minho, Ofir, São Pedro de Moel and the “Bairro dos Arquitetos”, in Rodízio, in Sintra.This dissertation addresses the case of Ofir in a particular way, having as its main objective the study of this seaside resort, the way it has developed over time and the situation in which it finds itself today. Relating the particularities of its landscape location, the design of the territory in which it is inserted and the set of architectures that characterize it, we intend to look at different scales in order to synthesize, analyze and understand this set. From the choice of the location to the architectures that were designed, through the plans conceived for the urbanization of this area, all aspects are fundamental for the study of this seaside resort as a whole.Promoting a closer look at the architectures arranged in the pine forest of Ofir, many in a state of degradation or even abandonment, and taking into account that in Portugal there is no legal instrument to protect this type of urban complex in particular, it is imperative the implementation of safeguard measures that guarantee the preservation of the identity of this residential holiday resort. It is in order to prevent interventions that call into question the unique characteristics of this place, both in terms of landscape, urban morphology and architectural design that this work emerges.

Planeados como aglomerados de veraneio, os núcleos residenciais de férias ganham expressão no período de desenvolvimento económico do pós-guerra. As suas composições contam com um conjunto singular de residências desenhadas para o efeito, contribuindo para a definição da tipologia de casa de férias moderna. Em Portugal, identificam-se quatro núcleos deste tipo: Moledo do Minho, Ofir, São Pedro de Moel e o “Bairro dos Arquitetos”, no Rodízio, em Sintra.A presente dissertação aborda de forma particular o caso de Ofir, tendo como principal objetivo o estudo deste núcleo balnear, a forma como se desenvolveu com o passar dos tempos e a situação em que se encontra na atualidade. Relacionando as particularidades da sua localização paisagística, o desenho do território no qual se insere e o conjunto de arquiteturas que o caraterizam, pretende-se um olhar a diferentes escalas de forma a sintetizar, analisar e compreender este conjunto. Desde a escolha da implantação até às arquiteturas que foram projetadas, passando pelos planos concebidos para a urbanização desta zona, todos os aspetos são fundamentais para o estudo deste núcleo balnear no seu todo.Promovendo um olhar mais atento às arquiteturas dispostas no pinhal de Ofir, muitas em estado de degradação ou até mesmo de abandono, e tendo em conta que em Portugal não há qualquer tipo de instrumento jurídico que proteja este tipo de conjuntos urbanos em particular, é imperativo a implementação de medidas de salvaguarda que garantam a preservação da identidade deste núcleo residencial de férias. É de forma a prevenir intervenções que coloquem em causa as caraterísticas únicas deste lugar, tanto ao nível da paisagem, como da morfologia urbana e do desenho arquitetónico que este trabalho surge.
