Catalogus Eborensis: os escritos de Rodrigo Homem.

Abstract

This work aims to analyze the writings of the Portuguese Jesuit Rodrigo Homem (1685 -) who worked for five years in the colleges of the “Companhia de Jesus” founded in Brazil. He graduated in Arts Course at Colégio Máximo do Maranhão between 1720 and 1724 and, the following year, he worked for a year at Colégio do Pará where he graduated in the Theology course. The content of Rodrigo Homem's lessons is contained in writings in the format of Conclusionse philosophicae and make up the Catalogus Eborensis collection located in the Public Library of Évora, Portugal, where it gathers more other texts of Portuguese origin and mostly Brazilian.Altogether there are seven writings written by Rodrigo Homem where he addresses a diverse thematic field: rational philosophy that embrace theory of knowledge, logic or dialectic, metaphysics (transnatural philosophy), natural philosophy (physics). It presents the teaching features of the Companhia de Jesus that followed the guidelines of the Ratio Studiorum and Commentarii Collegii Conimbricensis Societatis Iesu, the Conimbricense Course. The first work is the Jesuit pedagogical method which contains the rules that guide the administration of schools and the performance of teachers. The second work is the result of the Jesuits' initiative in establishing the return to Aristotle's original text and publishing it accompanied by a commentary.The analysis of Rodrigo Homem's writings is preceded by the approach of the pedagogical project of the Companhia de Jesus, its history, its colleges and members, the Jesuit performance at the Colégio de Jesus and Colégio das Artes in the city of Coimbra, Portugal. It also addresses the history of the religious order in Brazil where nineteen schools were founded and maintained until their suppression with the Pombaline reform. At the end there is an attachment containing a transcript of Rodrigo Homem's writings.

Este trabalho tem o objetivo de analisar os escritos do jesuíta português Rodrigo Homem (1685 -) que atuou por cinco anos nos colégios da Companhia de Jesus fundados no Brasil. Leu o Curso de Artes no Colégio Máximo do Maranhão entre 1720 a 1724 e, no ano seguinte, atuou por um ano no Colégio do Pará onde leu o curso de Teologia. O conteúdo das lições de Rodrigo Homem está contido em escritos no formato de Conclusionse philosophicae e compõem o acervo Catalogus Eborensis localizado na Biblioteca Pública de Évora, Portugal, onde reúne mais outros textos de origem portuguesa e na sua maioria brasileira.Ao todo são sete escritos de autoria de Rodrigo Homem onde aborda um diverso campo temático: filosofia racional, que abarca teoria do conhecimento, lógica ou dialética; a metafísica (filosofia transnatural), e a filosofia natural (física). Apresenta os traços do ensino da Companhia de Jesus que seguiam as orientações da Ratio Studiorum e Commentarii Collegii Conimbricensis Societatis Iesu, o Curso Jesuíta Conimbricense. A primeira obra é o método pedagógico jesuíta que contém as regras que guiam a administração dos colégios e a atuação dos professores. A segunda obra é resultado da iniciativa dos jesuítas ao estabelecer o retorno ao texto original de Aristóteles e publicá-lo acompanhado de um comentário. A análise dos escritos de Rodrigo Homem é precedida da abordagem do projeto pedagógico da Companhia de Jesus, de sua história, seus colégios e integrantes, da atuação jesuítas no Colégio de Jesus e Colégio das Artes na cidade de Coimbra, Portugal. Também aborda a história da ordem religiosa no Brasil onde fundaram e mantiveram dezenove colégios até a sua supressão com a reforma pombalina. Ao final, há o anexo que contém a transcrição dos escritos de Rodrigo Homem.
