Os Granitos da Pedreira Mapunda (Lubango, Angola) e a sua Alteração

Abstract

Neste trabalho apresenta-se e analisa-se (estuda-se) a influência da fracturação na alteração das rochas graníticas e do maciço rochoso da pedreira granítica da Mapunda (NW do Lubango), bem como a morfologia da alteração das rochas graníticas e o perfil de alteração. Realizou-se também a classificação geotécnica das rochas e, concomitantemente, a avaliação do potencial de utilização (importância) das rochas e dos solos graníticos. Na pedreira foram selecionados diversos afloramentos, tendo-se recorrido às seguintes ferramentas: cartografia temática, geologia estrutural. São ainda referidos os métodos utilizados no tratamento dos dados de terreno com o objetivo de identificar as diversas famílias de descontinuidades (falhas e diáclases), tendo em consideração as suas orientações e pendor. Nos vários sectores estudados foram analisados cinco estados do material, desde o material são, o pouco alterado, o material medianamente alterado, o material muito alterado e o material totalmente decomposto (solo). Esta abordagem conduziu a uma melhor compreensão da relevância do estudo dos solos de origem granítica, que maioritariamente são solos com índice de acidez mas com boa estrutura e textura para práticas agrícolas, desde que sejam bem manejados. O estudo das diversas fases de alteração das rochas que vai até à formação de solos graníticos poderá contribuir para o reinício da exploração sustentável dos georrecursos da pedreira da Mapunda.

In this paper we present and analyse (study) the influence of the fracturing in the alteration of granitic stones and the rock mass of Mapunda´s (Northwest of Lubango) granitic quarry, as well as the morphology of the granitic stone´s alteration and the profile of its modification. We also performed the geotechnical classification of the rocks and concomitantly the evaluation of the use potential (importance) of the rocks and granitic soils. In the quarry several outcrops were selected, using the following tools: Thematic cartography, and structural geology. We also refer the methods used in the treatment of terrain data with the purpose of identifying the discontinuities families (fails and joints), considering their orientation and penchant. In the several sectors studied we analysed 5 states of the material, from sane material, the little altered, the averagely altered, the very altered and the decomposed soil. This approach conducted to a better comprehension of the importance of the study of the granitic origin soils, which are mainly acid soils but with a good structure and texture for agriculture practices if well conducted. The study of the different stages of the rock alteration to the formation of granitic soils, may contribute to the restart of the sustainable exploration of the georesources of Mapunda´s quarry.
