(Novos) atores no Parlamento: a representação de Ventura, Katar Moreira e Cotrim de Figueiredo na produção informativa

Abstract

Entendendo os Media como um dispositivo social cuja essência é representar, ou seja, gerar sentido por meio da linguagem, este trabalho busca perceber as representações mediáticas de diferentes atores com diferentes condições de possibilidade de performance política. Aqui, olhamos criticamente para o “trabalho das representações” que se deu a partir da entrada de três novos deputados de três novos partidos no Parlamento português em 2019, por ocasião da formação da XIV Legislatura da Terceira República Portuguesa: André Ventura, eleito pelo partido Chega; João Cotrim de Figueiredo, eleito partido Iniciativa Liberal; e Joacine Katar Moreira, eleita pelo partido Livre. Para estabelecer este olhar crítico fez-se necessária uma sensibilidade interseccional pós-colonial para o entendimento dessas representações, por ser Joacine Katar Moreira uma mulher negra nascida em Guiné-Bissau (ex-colónia portuguesa há menos de 50 anos). O corpus que possibilitou este estudo foi formado por 355 unidades de análise recolhidas dos sites dos jornais portugueses com maiores acessos em outubro de 2019 quando iniciou-se a XIV Legislatura: o Correio da Manhã, o Diário de Notícias e o Público. O discurso mediático sobre essas novas personalidades políticas eleitas constitui-se como principal interesse desta investigação, na qual empregamos como metodologia a Análise de Conteúdo para a obtenção dos padrões dessas representações e a Análise Crítica do Discurso para ir além do conteúdo manifesto nos textos e perceber valores atribuídos e socializados.

Understanding the Media as a social device whose essence is to represent, that is, to generate meaning through language, this research seeks to understand the media representations of different actors with different conditions for the possibility of political performance. Here, we look critically at the “work of the representations” that took place from the entry of three new deputies from three new parties in the Portuguese Parliament in 2019, on the occasion of the formation of the XIV Legislature of the Third Portuguese Republic: André Ventura, elected by Chega party; João Cotrim de Figueiredo, elected by Iniciativa Liberal party; and Joacine Katar Moreira, elected by Livre party. Because Joacine Katar Moreira is a black woman born in Guinea-Bissau (former Portuguese colony until less than 50 years ago) a post-colonial intersectional sensitivity was necessary to understand these representations with a critical view. The corpus that made this research possible was formed by 355 units of analysis collected from the websites of Portuguese newspapers with the greatest access in October 2019 when the XIV Legislature began: Correio da Manhã, Diário de Notícias and Público. The media discourse on these new elected political personalities is the main interest of this investigation, in which we use Content Analysis as a methodology to obtain the patterns of these representations and the Critical Discourse Analysis to go beyond the content manifest in the texts and understand assigned and socialized values.
