Onde o Silêncio Está - Projeto de fotografia participativa em tempos de pandemia

Abstract

O presente trabalho consiste na apresentação de um projeto de fotografia participativa desenvolvido durante o presente ano letivo, marcado pela pandemia de covid-19. A iniquidade demarcou-se neste contexto de crise e levou a uma reflexão sobre os problemas de representação das minorias em Portugal, por parte dos media tradicionais. Esta falha representativa é explorada no sentido da invisibilidade e visibilidade hierárquica. O Onde o Silêncio Está é proposto como uma alternativa para estes obstáculos. É uma iniciativa inspirada na fotografia participativa e no jornalismo do cidadão, que toma lugar no Instagram (rede social para partilha de fotografias). O projeto é constituído de forma colaborativa e horizontal por participantes individuais e coletivos, que formam a nossa comunidade online. A dissertação contém a planificação desta proposta, considerando os nossos objetivos, estudo de mercado, modelos a seguir e captação e desenvolvimento de públicos. As relações na internet e o desenvolvimento das comunicações nas redes sociais são contextualizadas, uma vez que trabalhamos com audiências virtuais. O projeto, ainda a decorrer, revela os seus resultados preliminares, através do mapeamento realizado, recolha e contacto com participantes, e ainda, com a exibição de algumas das fotografias capturadas pela comunidade criada (4 pessoas individuais e 3 coletivos associativos). As obras servem como palco para tomada de consciência do seu lugar na comunidade e chamada de atenção para os desafios que encontram. São ainda discutidas a democratização da internet e das redes sociais, considerando a estrutura de oportunidades, as falhas na coesão de grupos virtuais como sendo caraterístico destas, e as próximas demandas para o Onde o Silêncio Está.

The current work consists of the presentation of a participatory photography project developed during this academic year, which has been marked by the covid-19 pandemic. The iniquity demarcated itself in this context of crisis and led to a reflection on the problems of representation of minorities in Portugal, as portrayed by the traditional media. This representative gap is explored in the sense of perceived invisibility and hierarchical visibility. Onde o Silêncio Está is proposed as an alternative solution to these obstacles. It is an initiative inspired by participatory photography and citizen journalism, that takes place in Instagram (social media for photo sharing). The program is constructed around a collaborative and horizontal approach to individual and collective participants, who form our online community. The dissertation contains the planning of this proposal, considering our objectives, market study, role models and audience capture and development. Internet relations and the development of social network communications are contextualized, since we work with virtual audiences. The project - which is still in progress - reveals its preliminary results through the carried-out mapping, gathering and contact with participants, as well as with the exhibition of some of the photos captured by the community (4 individual persons and 3 associative collectives). The pieces set the stage for individuals to become aware of their place in the community and call out to the challenges they face. We also discuss the democratization of the Internet and social networks, considering the structure of opportunities, the flaws in the cohesion of virtual groups as this being characteristic of them, and the next demands for Onde o Silêncio Está.
