dc.description.abstract | In this dissertation, we will be studying some aspects of mathematical modeling of actuarial activity, more precisely the insurance market case. We will be interested in a discrete time risk model considering a special dependence structure on indemnities and claim occurrences, namely assuming these are exchangeable instead of the usual independence assumption. As a preparation we briefly discuss one of the main tools to deal with this dependence, the de Finetti's Fundamental Theorem. We will then be making some modifications in the classic binomial model so that we may deal with this dependence in a more effective way. Afterwards, we will analyse the survival (non-ruin) probability, the probability of ruin occurring after the nth claim and the joint distribution of the time to ruin, the surplus immediately before ruin, and the deficit at ruin, under the conditions previously mentioned. To conclude this study, we will be making a numerical comparison between results obtained with the exchangeable and with the independent and identically distributed claim occurrences model. Two distributions will be used to model the random variable corresponding to the individual claim amounts: the Negative Binomial distribution and its particular case, the Geometric distribution. We will make a few changes to the parameters used in the probabilities modeling, so that we can study the effects and variations they will produce. To do that, we will be using graphical representations and tables. | eng |
