Título: | Citibrain playground - a platform for demonstrating smart cities solutions | Outros títulos: | CITIBRAIN PLAYGROUND - A PLATFORM FOR DEMONSTRATING SMART CITIES SOLUTIONS | Autor: | Silva, Rogério Costa | Orientador: | Madeira, Henrique Santos do Carmo | Palavras-chave: | Simulação; IoT; Smart City; Simulation; IoT; Internet of Things; Web Application | Data: | 12-Set-2019 | Título da revista, periódico, livro ou evento: | CITIBRAIN PLAYGROUND - A PLATFORM FOR DEMONSTRATING SMART CITIES SOLUTIONS | Local de edição ou do evento: | Ubiwhere | Resumo: | With more than half of the world's population living in urban areas, cities have to grow into a more intelligent, technological and sustainable place of living. Smart cities take advantage of the progress made in the areas of Internet of Things (IoT), communications and software to make cities a better living place. Although, due to its focus, the target audience to sell these solutions is, most of the times, the public sector. Municipalities already have their projects, a strict budget and a calendar to manage, which can represent an enormous drawback on getting funds to support or even acquiring these new solutions. In this report, a web application is proposed to support Ubiwhere's sales team showcasing their current smart solutions, taking advantage of the advances made on IoT simulation. It will allow potential clients to simulate several scenarios in their cities using Ubiwhere’s Smart City products for managing the different aspects of the city, such as parking or waste management. This document is intended to report the details on the work done and the decisions made during the academic internship, which took place in the academic year 2018/2019. This internship is included in the academic program of the Master’s Degree in Informatics Engineering in the Software Engineering branch. The internship is hosted by Ubiwhere, a com- pany based in Aveiro that focuses on the development of intelligent systems for Smart Cities, Telecommunications and Internet of the Future sectors, and took place in Ubiwhere’s office in Instituto Pedro Nunes, in Coimbra.
