Pode o serviço educativo contribuir para o processo de diálogo intercultural? O caso do Museu Municipal Santos Rocha

Abstract

This report refers to the curricular training period relating my Master degree in Municipal Culture Policy held in the town Museum Santos Rocha (MMSR)- Which belongs to the Town Council of the city of Figueira da Foz- between September 2017 and February 2018.The reasons why i have chosen this institution have to do with my personal interest in connecting the program/ planning of the Educational Service of the MMSR to the topic “multiculturalism”.Since there has been a growing number of refugees looking for better living conditions in Europe, the cultural institutions, above all others, should have designed their own agenda in order to welcome these people in a friendly and tolerant way.This and considering that audiences are the primary target/ goal of museums, this one in particular, would have the chance of seducing new audiences while stating two ofher major aspects: that it would be able to keep pace whith the current social needs as well as institutions, especially those from colonial times, which have not forgotten all those people who have somehow been involvel in the nowadays collections.As the accessible places they are supposed to be to all who visit them museums should not only support cultural diversity but also sparke the dialogue among diverse ethnicities.Therefore it has been one of the trainee´s purpose when taking part in this Educational Service to explore an updated issue in order to contribute to the continuous learning of the diferent audiences of MMSR by promoting some activities concerning some aspects of the African Culture, namely: “Viajar através da máscara”, an exhibition of religions magical objects, “Conhecer África com Obax”, a conference on the Human Evolution by Eugénia Cunha and a catalogue of magical religions objects.

O presente relatório, concretizado no âmbito do Mestrado em Política Cultural Autárquica, refere-se ao período de estágio curricular entre setembro de 2017 e fevereiro de 2018, efetuado no Museu Municipal Santos Rocha, entidade tutelada pela Câmara Municipal da Figueira da Foz.Os motivos que levaram a estagiária a eleger esta instituição prendem-se com o seu interesse em interligar a programação do Serviço Educativo do MMSR com o tema “multiculturalismo”.Sendo que se regista, desde que há memória, um número incontável de refugiados que chegam à Europa em busca de melhores condições de vida, as entidades culturais, mais do que as outras, deveriam ter agenciamento para mostrar que são acolhedoras, liberais, contemporâneas e multiculturais. E, tendo em consideração que os públicos são a grande razão de existir de um museu, este teria a oportunidade para, a partir deste flagelo, captar novos públicos e demostrar que, não só sabe avançar ao ritmo da sociedade mas também que as instituições, em especial as oriundas de tempos coloniais, não esqueceram as gentes que davam vida a muitas das coleções presentes, atualmente, nos museus. Mais do que defender a diversidade cultural, os museus podem, e devem, provocar o confronto e diálogo entre diversas etnias e apresentarem-se como um espaço acessível a todos que os visitam. Foi pretensão da estagiária, portanto, através de um estágio no Serviço Educativo, explorar uma temática atual e contribuir, através de algumas atividades relacionadas com parte da cultura africana, para a contínua formação dos diferentes públicos do MMSR, nomeadamente Viajar através da Máscara, exposição de objetos mágico religiosos, Conhecer África com Obax, conferência de Evolução Humana, por Eugénia Cunha e um catálogo de objetos mágico-religiosos.
