Breast cancer is the most common diagnosed cancer in women and it has a strong impact on women's lives. This brought the need to look at several studies that show the influence that various modifiable risk factors might have on the prevention of this cancer. The aim of this article is to provide a better understanding of the existing scientific evidence regarding the prevention of breast cancer. Healthy living standards, especially those outlined by the World Cancer Research Fund (WCRF) and the American Institute of Cancer Research (AICR), maintaining an active lifestyle, avoiding alcohol and tobacco use, trying to avoid high stress levels and avoiding exposure to some environmental factors such as pesticides and some metals can help reduce the risk of developing breast cancer up to 31%. Although lifestyle standards are different across the world, there is a strong suggestion that some measures can help prevent the onset of this cancer in all populations.
