Internet won, in the past years, a crucial importance in our daily life, and it’s today widely used by youth as well as elderly. With this reality, games also gain another accessibility. However, it is still difficult to define what could be an excessive use of this technologies, as well as there is still little knowledge about its negatives consequences. It is, therefore, important to know this new “addictions” and what is the correlation between the substances abuse, subject widely studied and known. The present work intended to characterize the Portuguese reality, in a student university context, in terms of the use of internet, game and substance abuse and what is the relationship between them. It was also another objective to alert the scientific community for this problem, with few investigation until our days. We started with a bibliographic revision, in order to give a theoretical framework about the subject. In a second part, a statistic analysis of an inquiry, distributed to Portuguese university students, was made. The results confirm that internet it’s widely used today by university students, being an important part of their days. About game, it stands out that gamble is not frequent in our study. Alcohol, tobacco and cannabis are the most consumed psychoactives substances. The others substances as shown to be lot less frequent in terms of consume. Beyond this results, it was not possible to stablish any relation between the use of internet, game and psychoactives substances consume. With this study it was possible to conclude that internet subject needs to be more investigated, including the definition of what could be an excessive use.
