Teoria Grounded das representações que as crianças constroem sobre os seus cuidadores institucionais

Abstract

O presente estudo analisa as representações que as crianças do Centro de Acolhimento Temporário Infantil de Pombal constroem sobre os seus cuidadores institucionais. A informação recolhida foi analisada com base na Grounded Theory, partindo do modelo de Strauss e Corbin (1990). Os resultados traduzem-se nas categorias encontradas: “Ambiente de holding”, “Dimensão emocional”, “Dimensão relacional”, “Aspetos da personalidade”, “Mundo interno”, “Desenvolvimento” e “Regulação emocional”. A categoria principal, que abrange todas as outras, é a “Vinculação”. Concluiu-se que as crianças percecionam os cuidadores institucionais como figuras disponíveis para atender às suas necessidades, sendo também reconhecida a sua capacidade contentora, protetora e afetiva. Tal perceção traduz-se no estabelecimento de uma relação de vinculação entre as crianças e os seus cuidadores.

The present study analyses the children representations about their institutional caregivers. All childrens are institutionalized in a Temporary Welfare Infant Center in Pombal. The information collected was analyzed based on the Grounded Theory, according to the Strauss and Corbin’s model (1990). The results are reflected in the following categories: “Holding environment”, “Emotional dimension”, “Relational dimension”, “Aspects of the personality”, “Internal world”, “Development” and “Emotional regulation”. The “Attachment” is the core category. We concluded that children perceive the institutional caregivers as available figures to assist their needs, being also recognized for their supportive, protective and affective capacities. This perception is reflected in the establishment of an attachment relationship between the children and their caregivers.
