dc.description.abstract | A União Europeia mantém ativa, desde 1985, uma manifestação cultural designada por “Capital Europeia da Cultura” (CEC), sendo este título anualmente atribuído a uma ou mais cidades europeias. Esta iniciativa tem como objetivo valorizar a diversidade cultural da Europa, bem como as suas características comuns. Pretende-se que as cidades tomem como base as estruturas e capacidades criadas neste âmbito para uma estratégia de desenvolvimento cultural sustentável, que assegure efeitos a longo prazo. Na apresentação da candidatura ao título é essencial estarem bem definidos e explícitos quais os objetivos a atingir, sendo variáveis nas diferentes cidades. Na maioria dos casos, a reformulação ou criação de novas infraestruturas está presente, embora podendo assumir-se mais ou menos prioritárias. O presente estudo foca-se no caso português, que já foi distinguido com a nomeação de Lisboa, em 1994, do Porto, em 2001, e de Guimarães, em 2012, com intuito de perceber como se têm encarado estas oportunidades e qual tem sido o papel dos arquitetos nesta afirmação nacional. Cada caso enquadra-se em diferentes momentos da evolução das CEC permitindo, também, desenvolver uma investigação prospetiva do conceito de CEC. | por |
dc.description.abstract | Since 1985, European Union keeps active a cultural event called “European Capital of Culture” (CEC), being this title assigned annually to one or more European cities. This initiative aims to valorize Europe’s cultural diversity, as well as its common features. It’s intended that cities take as basis the structures and capacities created in this area for a sustainable cultural development strategy, that ensures long-term effects. For the application to the title it’s essential that the goals to achieve are defined and explicit, being differents in each city. In most cases, the reformulation or creation of new infrastructure is present, although it can be more or less priority. This study focuses on the Portuguese case, which has been distinguished with the appointment of Lisbon, in 1994, Porto, in 2001, and Guimarães, in 2012, aiming to understand how these opportunities has been seen and what has been the role of architects in this national affirmation. Each case fits at different times of CEC’s evolution allowing, also, develop a prospective investigation of the concept of CEC. | por |
