Imagens do Clero na obra de Gil Vicente

Abstract

A presente dissertação procura dilucidar a imagem do clero apresentada e representada por Gil Vicente no seio da sua obra teatral. Para tal o texto aborda, de modo geral e sucinto, o contexto político, social, económico, religioso e cultural de Portugal entre os séculos XV e XVI, enquadrando assim a ideologia reinante no momento da criação do poeta-ourives. Contudo, como o objeto de estudo é o clero, tal como foi percecionado pelo pai do teatro nacional, a nossa atenção recaiu sobre a formação e a originalidade da obra teatral vicentina, por um lado e, por outro, sobre a análise de quatro autos exemplares, pela sátira e acutilância crítica, do olhar vicentino sobre os membros da Igreja.

The present dissertation intends to clarify the clerical image presented and represented by Gil Vicente amidst his theatrical work. In this case the text approaches, in a general and resumed manner, the political, social, economical, religious and cultural Portuguese context between 15th and 16th centuries, thus framing the reigning ideology of the poet-goldsmith's creative time. Nevertheless, since our object of study is the clergy as it was perceived by our national theater founding father, our attention fell, on the one hand, on Vicente's theatrical work formation and originality, and on the other hand on the analysis of four exemplary plays of Gil Vicente's satire and pungent critic over the Church members.
