As Terras de Tábua na Idade Média

Abstract

RESUMO A actual dissertação dedica-se ao estudo do povoamento e organização das terras de Tábua, desde o século X ao XV. Apresentamos a rede hidrográfica, a cobertura vegetal e a paisagem agrária. De seguida, centramo-nos na ocupação humana deste território, e, numa época posterior, demonstramos como apareceram as primeiras igrejas e como os moradores se organizaram em torno delas, quais eram os seus patronos e que rendimentos tinham. Até que chegam os poderes. O primeiro é o eclesiástico, do clero regular e secular, o terceiro é o dos leigos, dominado pela família dos cavaleiros de “Cunha” mas também de homens livres, em terras do rei. Numa última parte, estudamos os coutos, instituições que tiveram um lugar importantíssimo na terra, e apresentamos a sua delimitação, bem como a demarcação dos domínios dos leigos, procurando assim, mostrar o que pertencia a cada um dos senhorios estabelecidos na terra. ABSTRACT The current dissertation is devoted to the study of the settlement and organization of the realm of Tábua, from X to XV century. Presented here are the river network, vegetal cover and agricultural landscape. Next we focus on the human occupation of this territory, and, at a later time, we demonstrate how the first churches arose and how the residents organized themselves around them, who their patrons were and what income they had, until the powers arrived. The first was the ecclesiastic church, from the regular and secular clergy, the third were the lay, dominated by the "Cunha" Knights family but also of the free men on the king's realm. In a last part, we study the “couto”, institutions that had an important place on the land, and we present its delineation, as well as the demarcation of the laity possessions, intending to show what belonged to each of the landlords.
