Um olhar sobre a docência no ensino superior em tempo de mudança

Abstract

O presente estudo tem como foco de análise as transformações que têm ocorrido nos últimos dez anos no ensino superior, e que têm levado a uma reconfiguração da docência a este nível. Tem por objetivos estudar as mudanças que têm afetado esta profissão e analisar como têm modificado as funções, o papel, o perfil e as práticas dos docentes do ensino superior, na perspetiva destes, nomeadamente ao nível universitário. A pesquisa empírica foi realizada na Universidade de Coimbra, recolhendo, através de entrevistas semiestruturadas, as perceções de docentes sobre tais mudanças e transformações na profissão. Verificou-se que o Processo de Bolonha foi identificado pelos docentes como a principal mudança ocorrida no ensino superior nos últimos dez anos, trazendo mudanças a diversos níveis, com considerável impacto na profissão docente, conduzindo a uma transformação nos papéis e funções e à necessidade de reconfigurar a profissão. Será necessário que o docente do ensino superior adote um comportamento estratégico para lidar com os impactos das políticas, conciliando os seus interesses com os interesses e as orientações da universidade. Prevê-se que a profissão docente terá de continuar a lidar com novos desafios que levam à sua reconfiguração.

This study analyses the transformations, which have occurred for ten years in higher education, in particular, which have led to the transformation of the role and functions of the teachers, as well as a reconfiguration of their career. The objective of this study is to identify the changes which have affected the teaching profession and how they have changed the functions, the role, the profile and the way teachers work in higher education. The empirical research was done at the University of Coimbra, using semi-structured interviews in order to gather the views and perceptions of its teachers about these changes in the teaching profession. It was confirmed, that the teachers identified the Bologna process, as being the main change, which has occurred in higher education over the last ten years. It has introduced changes at various levels in higher education, with substantial impact on the teaching profession, leading to a transformation of roles and functions, as well as the need to reconfigure the teaching profession. These teachers must behave strategically to deal with the impacts of policies and reconcile their own interests with the interests and orientations of the university. It is expected that the teaching profession continue to deal with new challenges, which lead to its reconfiguration.
