Reconstituição de uma comunidade histórica : Soure 1685-1735

Abstract

A presente dissertação insere-se na área de estudo da reconstituição de comunidades históricas e reconstituição de histórias de vida. A paróquia de Soure, de 1685 a 1735, foi a comunidade reconstituída, assim como foram reconstituídas histórias de vida de alguns dos seus membros. A existência de uma base de dados englobando toda a população da paróquia até 1720, permitiu direccionar a investigação para a referida comunidade. Seguindo a mesma metodologia, efectuou-se a transcrição de registos paroquiais até 1735, permitindo que a base de dados albergue agora no seu interior a população de meio século. A partir desta amostra significativa analisámos a dinâmica populacional no que concerne às variáveis da fecundidade da nupcialidade e da mortalidade, análise que teve diversas abordagens com um enfoque preferencial para a sazonalidade, mas não descurando a ilegitimidade, a origem e fixação dos nubentes, a idade do primeiro casamento, o segundo casamento, a diferença de idades dos noivos e a percentagem de órfãos que casavam. Sempre que possível a respectiva análise foi realizada comparativamente com outras realidades, ou com outros padrões passíveis de caracterizar a população da paróquia de Soure. A reconstituição de histórias de vida advém da abordagem nominal que quisemos imprimir à investigação, como regra geral os indivíduos que aparecem em mais actos sociais são dos mais influentes na comunidade pretendemos saber quem era quem na estratificada sociedade sourense. Como as Misericórdias eram os centros agregadores das elites locais, analisámos as listas das eleições da Santa Casa da Misericórdia de Soure reconstituindo as histórias de vida dos seus elementos. Com esses elementos na nossa posse observámos como apadrinhavam, quem eram os padrinhos dos seus filhos, em que casamentos testemunhavam, ou seja, como se relacionavam entre si os mesários de Soure, no intuito de detectar uma rede social que dominasse o acto eleitoral.

The present dissertation is inserted in the area of studies of the reconstruction of historical communities and reconstruction of life-stories. The parish of Soure, from 1685 to 1735, was the reconstructed community, as well as the life-stories of some of its members were reconstructed. The existence of a database embracing all the population from the parish until 1720, has allowed the investigation to take its direction into the community mentioned. Following the same methodology, the transcription of the parish registers were made until 1735, allowing the database to now cover the population of half a century. Starting from this significant sample we analised the population dinamics concerning the fertility, nuptial and death-rate variables. This analyses, which had several approaches with a favoured highlight to seasonality, but not neglecting illegitimacy, the origns and fixation points of the betrothad, the age of the first marriage, the second marriage, the age difference between bride and groom and the percentage of orfans that married. When ever possible the respective analyses was realized in comparison with other realities, or other pattorns that couldt characterize the population of the parish of Soure. The reconstruction of life-stories comes from the nominal approach which we wanted to imprint to the investigation. As general rule individuals who appear in more social events are the most influent in the community and we wished to know who was who in the stratified sourense community. As the Misericórdias were the aggregative centre of the local elite, we analysed the election list of the Santa Casa da Misericórdia of Soure, reconstructing the life-stories of its elements. With those elements in our possession we observed how they become a godfather, who were the godfathers of their children, in which marriage they testified, that is, how the board members of Soure interacted among each other, in order to detect a social net that would dominate the election act.
