Análise das condições higrotérmicas em espaços da Biblioteca Geral da Universidade de Coimbra

Abstract

Esta tese foi realizada no decorrer de um protocolo criado entre a ADAI (Associacao para o Desenvolvimento da Aerodinamica Industrial) e a Biblioteca da Universidade de Coimbra, com o objectivo de analisar as condicoes de temperatura e humidade verificadas em cinco espacos do edificio da Biblioteca Geral da Universidade de Coimbra: a Sala de Sao Pedro, o Deposito de Manuscritos, o Exterior e o Interior da Casa Forte e a Sala de Leitura. Para analisar estes parametros recorreu-se a medicoes atraves de um sensor higrotermico, a pesagem de jornais e a formulas matematicas, que com a observacao das condicoes de cada local foi possivel fazer uma avaliacao global das condicoes do edificio. Com esta analise avaliou-se o desempenho que o edificio apresenta para a preservacao de acervos bibliograficos. A principal conclusao e que o edificio apresenta algumas variacoes interiores de Temperatura e Humidade Relativa que correlacionam-se directamente com as condicoes climaticas exteriores, provocando valores extremos e flutuacoes elevadas desses parametros. Isto justifica-se devido as condicoes da estrutura do edificio. No entanto, com algumas medidas de melhoramento sera possivel minimizar esse efeito.

This master thesis was created in the course of a protocol established between the ADAI (Associacao para o Desenvolvimento da Aerodinamica Industrial) and the Library University of Coimbra, with the aim of studying the temperature and humidity recorded in five areas of the building of the General Library, University of Coimbra: the Hall of St Peter, the Deposit of Manuscripts, the Inside and the Outside of the Strong Box and the Reading Room. For the analysis of these parameters were estimated using measurements using a sensor hygrothermal, weighing papers and mathematical formulas that the observation of conditions of each site was possible to make a comprehensive analysis of the condition of the building. With this analysis we evaluated the performance that the building presents to the preservation of library collections. The main conclusion reached is that the building has some variations of indoor temperature and relative humidity correlated directly with the outdoor climate, causing extreme values and high fluctuations of these parameters. This situation is caused by the structural conditions of the building. However, with some measures of improvement will be possible to minimize this effect.
