A CERÂMICA MEDIEVAL DO CASTELO DA VILA DO TOURO: OS SECTORES VI E VIII

Abstract

O seguinte relatório de estágio é o produto de um trabalho realizado no Gabinete de Arqueologia da Câmara Municipal do Sabugal, proporcionado pelo protocolo existente entre a Faculdade de Letras da Universidade de Coimbra e a Câmara Municipal do Sabugal, no âmbito do 2º ano do Mestrado em Arqueologia e Território.O objectivo geral do nosso trabalho era contribuir, a partir da análise de um conjunto de cerâmicas medievais exumadas nos sectores VI e VIII do Castelo da Vila do Touro, para adensar o conhecimento sobre este edifício militar desde a sua fase de construção (séc. XIII).Para tal seleccionou-se a colecção de cerâmicas provindas dos sectores VI e VIII recolhidas durante os trabalhos arqueológicos realizados entre 2014 e 2018 pelo Gabinete de Arqueologia do Sabugal (em colaboração com alunos e professores da Faculdade de Letras da Universidade de Coimbra), que não tinham ainda sido objecto de estudo.Neste trabalho realizaram-se todas as etapas de um estudo cerâmico, iniciado com a remarcação de algumas peças, a colagem, o registo gráfico e, por fim, a inventariação dos fragmentos. Seguidamente, procedeu-se à sua análise tecnológica e morfo-tipológica, tendo também sido consultada bibliografia sobre diferentes estudos de cerâmica com vista ao estabelecimento de paralelos tipológicos e decorativos.Perante esta análise foi possível identificar um conjunto de fabrico local de cerâmica comum feita a torno, com cozedura principalmente redutora, onde constam panelas, potes, cântaros, pucarinhos, entre outras formas e onde predominam as decorações incisas e impressas. Com este estudo procurou-se contribuir para o conhecimento da produção cerâmica na raia portuguesa em período baixo medieval, a partir do século XIII.

The following internship report is the product of a work carried out in the Archaeology Office of Sabugal, provided by the protocol between Faculty of Arts and Humanities of University of Coimbra and the Câmara Municipal of Sabugal, under the 2nd year of the Master in Archaeology and Territory.The general objective of our work was to contribute, from the analysis of a set of medieval ceramics exhumed in sectors VI and VIII of the Castle of Vila do Touro, to increase the knowledge about this military building since its construction phase (13th century).To this end, the collection of ceramics from sectors VI and VIII collected during the archaeological works carried out between 2014 and 2018 by the Archaeology Office of Sabugal (in collaboration with students and teachers of the Faculty of Arts and Humanities of University of Coimbra), who had not yet been studied, was selected.In this work, all stages of a ceramic study were conducted, starting with the remarcation of some pieces, the collage, the graphic record and, finally, the inventory of the fragments. Then, we proceeded to its technological and morpho-typological analysis and was also consulted bibliography on different studies of ceramics in order to establish typological and decorative parallels.In view of this analysis, it was possible to identify a set of local manufacture of common ceramics made around, with cooking mainly reductive, where there are pots and jars among other forms and where the incised and printed decorations predominate. This study sought to contribute to the knowledge of ceramic production in the Portuguese streak in medieval low period, from the 13th century.
