Da Multifuncionalidade para a Cidade: Um pavilhão multiusos/mercado na dinamização do quotidiano dos Campos do Mondego

Abstract

O presente atelier de projeto, (atelier de projeto B), tem, como objetivo, regenerar uma das “portas” da cidade de Coimbra, tornando-a num espaço mais apelativo e preparado para receber a Linha de Alta velocidade (LAV). Para o efeito, foi necessário repensar a zona norte da cidade, projetando estratégias urbanas que incluam uma nova estação ferroviária articulada com outros equipamentos capazes de dar resposta à LAV e ao movimento gerado pela mesma. O trabalho é dividido em duas fases: a primeira fase, gizada em grupo e submetida ao Concurso Universidades da Trienal de Arquitetura de Lisboa 2022 e a segunda fase, desenvolvida individualmente. O grupo onde me encontro (Grupo C) desenvolveu a opção de implantar a estação ferroviária a norte da atual Coimbra B, estabelecendo uma relação mais próxima com o Loreto e a Pedrulha. O nosso desenho urbano estrutura-se numa avenida-boulevard, o qual define a frente-limite desta porta urbana. É a partir desta avenida que definimos a entrada da nova estação ferroviária e os demais programas envolventes, articulando-a com: um pavilhão Multiusos/mercado, hortas comunitárias, uma eco-village, e a re-funcionalização das antigas fábricas da Lufapo e da Triunfo.Mediante os programas referidos, apresento o projeto de um Pavilhão Multiusos/Mercado, que visa responder às necessidades impostas pela cidade, nomeadamente do ponto de vista, cultural, económico, político e social, estando preparado para diferentes eventos. No desenho urbano efetuado pelo grupo, o pavilhão Multiusos/Mercado encontra-se a poente da estação ferroviária e do terminal rodoviário, e partilha, com estes programas, a criação de duas entradas para o público: uma a partir da avenida-boulevard, a norte; a outra, relacionada com o mercado exterior, a sul. Este edifício prolonga-se depois num desenho urbano que inclui a eco-village e as suas hortas comunitárias. Esse desenho estabelece uma ligação conceptual entre o alinhamento dos carris ferroviários e o dos trilhos rurais (articulação Fast!-Slow!).Posto isto, a nova porta de entrada para a cidade estabelece equipamentos preparados para receber o movimento e a velocidade impostos pela LAV, não esquecendo a importância da inclusão de espaços lúdicos e agrícolas, de programas e de outras atividades comunitárias que promovem uma relação mais coesa entre a população.

The present design studio, (design studio B), aims to regenerate one of the “doors” of the city of Coimbra, making it a more appealing space and prepared to receive the High-Speed Line. For this purpose, it was necessary to rethink the northern part of the city, designing urban strategies that include a new railway station articulated with other equipment capable of responding to the Hight Speed train and the movement generated by it. The work is divided into two phases: the first phase, designed in a group and submitted to the Universities Competition of the Lisbon Architecture Triennale 2022 and the second phase, developed individually.The group I belong to (Group C) developed the option of installing the railway station north of the current Coimbra B, establishing a closer relationship with Loreto and Pedrulha. Our urban design is structured in an avenue-boulevard, which defines the boundary front of this urban gateway. It is from this avenue that we define the entrance to the new railway station and the other surrounding programs, articulating it with: a multipurpose pavilion/market, community gardens, an eco-village, and the re-functionalization of the old Lufapo and Triunfo industrial buidings.Through the aforementioned programs, I present the project of a Multipurpose/Market Pavilion, which aims to respond to the needs imposed by the city, namely from the cultural, economic, political and social point of view, being prepared for different events. In the urban design carried out by the group, the multipurpose pavilion/market is located to the west of the railway station and the bus terminal, and shares, with these programs, the creation of two entrances for the public: one from the boulevard-avenue in the north; the other, related to the foreign exterior market, in the south. This building then extends into an urban design that includes an eco-village and its community gardens. This design establishes a conceptual connection between the alignment of the railway tracks and that of the agriculture tracks (Fast!-Slow! articulation).That said, the new gateway to the city establishes equipment prepared to receive the movement and speed imposed by the Hight Speed train, not forgetting the importance of including recreational and agricultural spaces, programs and other community activities that promote a more cohesive relationship among the population.
