NARRATIVAS DE VIDA e sua influência na (re)construção sócio-identitária de mulheres em situação de vulnerabilidade social

Abstract

Research into the risk of poverty and social exclusion shows that its eradication isfar from happening, as the numbers remain high and the inequality rate representsa clearly negative aspect in which, among the 27 countries of the European Union,Portugal ranks highly in terms of social inequalities. Poverty is traditionally linked toa strong structural component, being passed down between generations orremaining very persistent throughout individual’s lives. Those who have recentlyentered a situation of poverty are socially categorised as being vulnerable,individuals who are just above the threshold of what is considered poverty, but anyincident can cause them to enter and remain in the poverty line. This work soughtto correlate poverty and vulnerability, addressing the individual and socialcategories of identity, spatial and relational causes and effects, but above all toreflect on the permanence of poverty from a perspective of the internalisation ofassisted fragility according to Paugam's model (2003). It also aimed to contribute tobroadening social knowledge of subjective issues relating to the multidimensionalityof poverty, particularly female poverty. Considering the existence of a plurality ofidentities, whether recognised, attributed or perceived, this work also delved into theuniverse of individual and collective identities. We realised the importance ofqualitative research within the multidimensional universe of this research, as itallowed us to access and confront reality from the point of view of the subjects wholive the problem and thus hear what the numbers don't say. In methodological terms,we used an ethnosociological approach, using life narrative interviews (narrativesof practices in situations), with the aim of getting to know the social world, extractinginformation, descriptions and clues that can help us understand its workings andinternal dynamics (Bertaux, 2020, p.49). It was concluded that there is an urgentneed to broaden our view of the construction of public social policies, consideringthe complexity of individuals as biopsychosocial subjects.

As pesquisas relativas ao risco de pobreza e de exclusão social demonstram que a sua erradicação está longe de acontecer, pois os números permanecem elevados e a taxa de desigualdade representa um aspeto claramente negativo no qual, entre os 27 países da União Europeia, Portugal ocupa uma elevada posição ao nível das desigualdades sociais. Tradicionalmente a pobreza é ligada a uma forte componente estrutural, sendo transmitida entre gerações ou mantendo-se muito persistente ao longo da vida dos indivíduos. Os que ingressaram há pouco tempo em situação de pobreza são categorizados socialmente como sendo vulneráveis, indivíduos que estão pouco acima do limiar do que é considerado pobreza, mas qualquer incidente os pode fazer adentrar e permanecer na linha da pobreza.Este trabalho procurou correlacionar pobreza e vulnerabilidade, abordando as categorias individuais e sociais de identidade, causas e efeitos espaciais e relacionais, mas, acima de tudo, refletir sobre a permanência da pobreza numa ótica de interiorização de fragilidade assistida de acordo com o modelo de Paugam (2003). Pretendeu também contribuir para ampliar o conhecimento social de questões subjetivas relativas à multidimensionalidade que abarca a pobreza, nomeadamente a pobreza no feminino. Considerando a existência de uma pluralidade identitária, sejam elas reconhecidas, atribuídas ou percebidas, este trabalho também adentrou no universo das identidades individuais e coletivas. Percebeu se a importância da investigação qualitativa, dentro do universo multidimensional desta pesquisa, na medida que esta nos permitiu acessar e confrontar com a realidade a partir dos sujeitos que vivem o problema e com isso, ouvir o que os números não dizem. Em termos metodológicos, recorreu-se a uma abordagem etnossociológica, de entrevista de narrativa de vida (narrativa de práticas em situação), com o objetivo de conhecer o mundo social, extrair informações, descrições, pistas que possam ajudar a compreender seu funcionamento e dinâmica interna (Bertaux, 2020, p.49). Concluiu-se que é urgente ampliar o olhar relativamente à construção de políticas públicas sociais considerando a complexidade dos indivíduos enquanto sujeitos biopsicossociais.
