Relatório de Estágio no Âmbito do Mestrado em Análises Clínicas

Abstract

In the present work, I describe the procedures and diagnostics techniques which I had the opportunity to put into practice and to learn from, during the curricular internship carried out in the SYNLABHEALTH MADEIRA laboratory, within the scope of the Master's Degree in Clinical Analyses. During this internship, I had the opportunity to work and acquire knowledge in the areas of Microbiology, Biochemistry, Immunology and Hematology. Thus, this report covers the pre-analytical, analytical and post analytical phases, which take place in the laboratory daily routine, with a more in-depth approach to the areas of Microbiology and Hematology. Some clinical cases that have appeared during my internship are also presented and discussed, which aim to bring together the knowledge acquired, both during the internship and during the master's degree. The internship also allowed me to see the reality that was being transmitted to me throughout the Master's degree and the enormous impact that the role of technicians and the laboratory has in the diagnosis, prevention, and monitoring of the evolution of the different disease’s and their treatment. Undoubtedly, that nowadays the laboratory is largely automated, but the role of a superior technician in clinical analysis is crucial to ensure the maintenance and monitoring of the different equipment’s and subsequent interpretation of the results obtained. This always requires a critical spirit and multidisciplinary knowledge in the different areas that cover human health for analytical validation, with the ultimate goal of contributing to the health of the public.

No presente trabalho estão descritos os procedimentos e as técnicas de diagnóstico, as quais tive oportunidade de pôr em prática ou, aprender ao longo do estágio curricular realizado no laboratório SYNLABHEALTH MADEIRA, no âmbito do Mestrado em Análises Clínicas. No decorrer deste estágio tive a oportunidade de trabalhar e adquirir conhecimentos nas valências de Microbiologia, Bioquímica, Imunologia e Hematologia. Deste modo, este relatório aborda as fases pré-analíticas, analíticas e pós analíticas, que decorrem na rotina diária do laboratório, sendo feita uma abordagem mais aprofundada das valências de Microbiologia e Hematologia. São ainda apresentados e discutidos alguns casos clínicos que apareceram no decorrer do meu período de estágio, que procuram reunir os conhecimentos adquiridos tanto no decorrer do estágio, como ao longo de mestrado.O estágio permitiu-me ver a realidade que me foi sendo transmitida ao longo do mestrado e o enorme impacto que tem o papel dos técnicos e do laboratório no diagnóstico, na prevenção, e na monitorização da evolução da doença e do seu tratamento. Sem dúvida, que hoje em dia o laboratório está largamente automatizado, mas o papel de um técnico superior em análises clínicas é crucial para garantir a manutenção e monitorização destes equipamentos e interpretação dos resultados obtidos, e requer sempre um espírito crítico e conhecimento multidisciplinar nas diferentes áreas que abrangem a saúde humana para a validação analítica, com o objetivo final de contribuir para a saúde da pública.
