Both at national and international level, there has been a need to recognize and protect human rights, including the establishment of principles that would ensure equal treatment for all citizens.Although there is a wide regulation on this matter, it is confirmed in almost all States, including Portugal, the existence of a differentiated distribution in the attainment of rights, means and power between men and women, in which the male gender is privileged.Over the years, we have seen several economic and financial obstacles, including the financial crisis (2007-2009), the sovereign debt crisis (2010-2013), the risks of deflation (2014-2018) and the pandemic crisis (2020-to the present). It's our knowledge, these have effects on society. However, it was possible to observe that the impacts of crises as well as the mechanisms used in their fight accentuate gender inequalities, and the inept it is not the exception of the ineptitude crisis. In this way, we believe that the increases in gender inequality during periods of crisis stem from the lack of a gender perspective in policies and from the acceptance of these inequalities by citizens.
