The scientific activity reflects the different approaches, made throughout the years, always related to materials, its characterization and application.
Actually, the interest relays on different areas such as micro and nanotechnologies and additive manufacturing, particularly 4D printing. With the major concern of using environmental sustainable technologies, within the frame of circular economy, green technologies, such as sputtering is used for the modification/production of nanostructured, functionally graded and hybrid nanocomposites surfaces. Also bacteria are used as "living tools" both as producers of sustainable non-pollutant materials and as tools for micromanufacturing. Briefly
- Bacteria as raw material suppliers to develop adaptive materials-4D printing
- Sputtered produced submicro thermocouples for instant measurement of temperature in mould cavities-Industry 4.0
- Surface modification techniques combining sputtering and "wet-chemistry" approaches for the recovery of critical metals for reuse in automotive and aeronautic industry-Circular economy
- Bacteria as tools for reducing defects in graphene based materials (GBM) produced by sputtering.
- Characterization of the modified surfaces by complementary experimental techniques: EPMA, XRD, SEM, TEM, DSC/TG, FTIR, AFM, wettability, surface charge, Raman, in vitro test, etc.
