Hub Criativo no Cabo do Mundo: Habitar e Criar em Contexto Laboratorial

Abstract

Esta Dissertação de Mestrado responde ao tema proposto na disciplina de Atelier de Projeto IIB, no ano letivo de 2020/2021 denominado: “Cabo do Mundo 21 – Projeto para uma Cidade Urgente, Pós-Covid e Pós-Carbono”, e do qual resultou o planeamento de um modelo de cidade sustentável, adaptável às necessidades pós-industriais da refinaria do Cabo do Mundo, situada em Leça da Palmeira. O trabalho em questão evidencia soluções e uma metodologia de projeto sustentável para a reconversão da refinaria, de modo a contribuir para a descarbonização e descontaminação do solo, sem descurar a preservação da memória industrial do local, afinal, parte da sua identidade. Inerente a essa mesma necessidade de resposta urgente, foi crucial o estudo do território a nível socioeconómico, político e geográfico, em prol de uma contextualização da área proposta. Para tal, foram usadas ferramentas de estudo tais como os censos atuais e análise de planos territoriais, com início em 1943. A investigação desenvolveu-se ao longo de três fases: as primeiras duas primaram por um trabalho de turma e de grupo, a fim de abordar toda a área como parte de uma estratégia urbana, sendo que para tal se realizou uma análise conjunta aprofundada a nível geográfico, demográfico, político e histórico. A estratégia urbana consistiu em integrar novos sistemas de transportes públicos em Leça e requalificar os eixos viários, de modo a cerzir a malha urbana de Leça com a zona industrial. Face aos arruamentos propostos, surgiram diversos quarteirões, nos quais assenta a terceira fase desta investigação, a fase individual. No fim das fases de turma e de grupo, procedeu-se à elaboração da proposta geral, apresentada sob a forma de uma maqueta de turma. A fase individual é suportada pela análise de casos de estudo relativos ao reaproveitamento e à requalificação de estruturas industriais, de forma a adaptar os silos da área de estudo a novos programas que consagram a articulação de espaços co-working, num contexto de economia criativa. Neste contexto, esta dissertação foca-se na criação de um Hub Criativo com acesso a habitações temporárias, as quais se articulam entre espaços lúdicos e de lazer, como o MAT Factory e uma zona de congressos, ambos com acesso a parques de estacionamento automóvel. Em suma, pretendeu-se estabelecer uma eficaz articulação entre a envolvente e a zona intervencionada, a fim de fomentar uma melhor coesão formal e funcional da malha urbana.

The objective of this Master’s Thesis allows us to respond to the theme proposed in the academic year 2020/2021 entitled: “Cape of the World 21 - Project for an Urgent City”, which resulted in the planning of a sustainable city model, adaptable to the needs of the post-industrial Cabo do Mundo refinery, located in Leça da Palmeira. The work in question shows solutions aimed at finding a methodology for a sustainable project when the refinery is converted, in order to contribute to the decarbonization and decontamination of the soil, without neglecting the preservation of the industrial memory of the site, after all, part of its identity.Inherent in this same urgent need for response, the study of the territory at a socio-economic level and of its political, historical and geographical relationship was crucial, in favor of contextualizing the proposed area. To this end, study tools such as current censuses and analyzes based on territorial plans dating back to 1943 were used. The investigation was carried out over three phases: the first two focused on group and intergroup work, in order to address the entire area as part of an urban strategy, and for this, an in-depth joint analysis was carried out on a geographical, demographic, political and historical level. The urban strategy consisted of integrating new public transport systems in Leça and requalifying the main road axes and also the secondary ones, in order to unite the urban fabric of Leça with the industrial zone. As a result of the proposed street layout, blocks emerged, on which the third phase of this investigation is based, the individual phase. At the end of the class and group phases, the general proposal was drawn up, presented in the form of a class model. The individual phase is supported by the analysis of case studies related to the reuse and requalification of industrial structures, in order to adapt the silos in the study area to new programs that enshrine the articulation of coworking spaces with the insertion of the creative economy ideology.In this context, this dissertation focuses on the creation of a Creative Hub with access to temporary housing, which are articulated between recreational and leisure spaces, such as the Mat Factory and a congress area, both with access to car parks. In short, the intention was to establish an effective articulation between the surroundings and the intervened area, in order to foster a better formal and functional cohesion of the urban fabric.
