Sobre o FUTURO das Cidades e Território

Abstract

Partindo da análise da arquitectura e urbanismo contemporâneo, das problemáticas actuais, das práticas e necessidades do homem global do séc. XXI, e tendo em conta o papel desempenhado pelos planos utópicos, ao longo da história da humanidade, de alavanca de progresso, o tema de dissertação proposto pretende reflectir sobre o Futuro da Arquitectura e Urbanismo / Cidade e Território. Na era da informação, do progresso científico e tecnológico, da produção e consumo massivo, quando a degradação da biosfera terrestre e a escassez de recursos naturais se aproximam do limite, parece pertinente pensar em soluções que tirem o melhor partido da relação entre espaço habitado/humanizado e a biosfera que o envolve, garantindo a qualidade de vida das gerações futuras.

Having as starting point the analysis of contemporary architecture and urbanism, the current global social, demographical, environmental and economical issues, the practices and needs of the 21st century man, and taking into account the role played by utopian plans, throughout the history of humanity as motor of progress, the present research theme is intended to reflect on the Future of Architecture and Urban Planning / City and Territory. In the information age, where the scientific and technological progress, vast production and mass consumption take place, when the degradation of the earth's biosphere and the shortage of natural resources are close to the limit, it seems relevant to think about solutions that take full advantage of the relationship between living space / humanized space and the biosphere that surrounds it, ensuring the quality of life of future generations.
