Abstract

O meu avô materno faleceu em casa, rodeado pela família e olhando o grande mapa de Angola pendurado na parede em frente à sua cama. Vivia em Portugal há quase vinte anos, porém não havia abandonado o país onde nascera. Na realidade, nenhum de nós. Não que alguma vez a família tenha considerado um retorno, simplesmente era-nos possível estar em dois lados ao mesmo tempo, acontecendo que se acabava por estar em parte alguma.

My maternal grandfather died at home, surrounded by his family, looking up at the big map of Angola hanging on the wall by his bed. He had lived in Portugal for almost twenty years, but he never abandoned the country where he was born. In reality, none of us have. Not that the family ever considered returning, just that it was possible for us to be in two places at once. In the end, we are anywhere.
