Abstract: It is known that historical knowledge is an indispensable component in the construction of an individual's identity, so it is up to teachers to transmit historical knowledge to 21st century students, developing skills in the field of History, capturing their interest and using resources that are familiar to them – digital technologies. In this sense, this work intends to verify if the active methodologies of content production contribute to the production of historical knowledge, based on history and local heritage through hybrid learning environments. The research was developed in a public school in the Autonomous Region of the Azores, with students from Secondary Education, who prepared the circuits of visit to different spaces of local heritage, in conjunction with the contents studied in the discipline of History B and built a digital app, with resources produced before and during the study visits. This investigation intends, therefore, to study possible scenarios and alternative learning designs, particularly with regard to the study of local history, seeking to understand the importance of this project for the development of students’ learning skills. In this text, all stages of the project are presented and described, as well as a reflection on the students’ initial motivation to participate in the project, based on their answers to a questionnaire regarding learning skills and another applied in the end, to evaluate this project as promoter of virtual learning communities. The results obtained in this study demonstrate that in a context of completely digital teaching it is possible, on the one hand, to develop different didactic works and activities in order to build the students' historical knowledge and, on the other, that work using the Digital Technologies of Information and Communication is essential, especially when the teacher seeks to promote not only learning related to the discipline he teaches, but also transversal ones.
