This document was written in the context of the "Internship” Curriculum Unit of the Integrated Master in Pharmaceutical Sciences. It includes the Internship Report, performed in Community Pharmacy, and the Monograph, entitled "Chronic Venous Disease: events, diagnosis and treatment". Chronic venous disease is a pathology that consists in the inability of the veins to perform the venous return to the heart, which causes blood accumulation at the level of the lower limbs. It is a chronic and evolving disease, with high incidence in adult and elderly population and potentially serious consequences for their quality of life. Therefore, taking into account the negative effects of this disease and adding its lack of awareness among the population, it is of extreme importance to deepen current knowledge and, if possible, develop new forms of treatment and diagnosis. Throughout this document, the CVD will be studied from various points of view. In order to better understand the mechanism adjacent to its emergence and evolution, the disease will be pathophysiologically analysed. Understanding the pathophysiology inherent to CVD is a way of understanding the signs and symptoms it presents, as well as the strategies to adopt to reduce and/or minimize its consequences. Afterwards, different treatment methods will be described, including not only pharmacological therapies, but also non- pharmacological therapies and invasive procedures. In addition, the diagnostic method usually used in clinical settings, denominated Duplex Ultrasound, will be described.
