Keywords: | Formação avançada em CI; Enquadramento oficial da CI; Portugal; Brasil; A3ES; CAPES; Advanced education in Information Science; Official IS framework | Issue Date: | 2017 | Serial title, monograph or event: | Cadernos BAD | Volume: | 1 | Place of publication or event: | Lisboa | Abstract: | A formação em Ciência da Informação (CI) caracteriza-se pela diversidade de modelos
Dada a
Objetivou-se: i.
The studies in Information Science (IS) are characterized by a diversity of models with repercussions in the respective Masters and PhD courses. Given the importance of these courses for the establishment of the area, we intend to provide subsidies for a reflection on the same, contextualizing it in the contemporaneity, starting with masters and doctoral courses in Portugal and Brazil. We aimed at (i.) Identify the mentioned courses (2016) accredited by the respective agencies in these two countries, (ii.) analyze its characteristics, and (iii.) contextualize the IS in the classification schemes used in the official educational structures. We follow an exploratory and qualitative methodology, based on the analysis and synthesis of data obtained from official sources. We have identified, respectively, in Portugal and Brazil: masters - 4 and 16; and doctorates - 3 and 9. In Portugal, the area presents as passing from «Documentary Sciences» to a more comprehensive IS; In Brazil, there is a complex relationship between Library Science, Archival Sciences and IS, based on the search for an identity of IS and, simultaneously, the autonomous affirmation of the disciplines involved. We infer a relationship between this panorama and the different geographical contexts of Europe and America. |
