dc.description.abstract | Influenced by a society in permanent technological evolution, with the appearance of new digital tools at a rampant rate, the field of Archaeology has endless solutions to keep itself updated and extend the reach of the knowledge of the Past to an ever growing public. The present work has the objective of reporting the activities executed during the master’s degree internship, attended at the company THEIA, in which several digital resources were tested, in the context of multiple instances of archaeological patrimony. These are split, mainly, in three areas. To aid the management of said patrimony, on the archaeological site of Tróia, a database in GIS software was built and facilitated the access to this information, with the production of a WEBGIS platform. Secondly, by processing satellite data, a weekly-based remote monitorization of archaeological sites, emitting notifications and alerts when needed, together with punctual field verifications, was carried in Beja, Serpa and Algarve, with the intent of reporting or minimizing the damage inflicted on archaeological sites by human action, in a manner that is cost-effective on the viewpoint of the resources and time spent. Lastly, we performed tests with Augmented Reality tools, using as an example the original polychromy of the Founders Chapel in the Monastery of Batalha, which is regarded as a resource on an incipient phase of adoption, on the viewpoint of Archaeology, but with a vast potential for the diffusion and promotion of archaeological heritage. | eng |
