A inscrição oculta na Lusitânia ocidental

Abstract

Dão-se exemplos de epígrafes romanas ocultas aos olhos do vulgo, aos olhos da mente e, até, do epigrafista. São os grafitos testemunho eloquente de inscrições destinadas a ficar ocultas ou, pelo menos, só em segredo conhecidas. Debruçámo-nos, de modo particular, sobre uma denúncia de fellatio, em Conimbriga, a que se deu nova interpretação. E mereceu a maior atenção a tabella defixionis de Salacia, de cujos estudos se procurou dar uma panorâmica exaustiva.

We find Roman inscriptions that are hided from the eyes of the common people, of the mind and, also, of the epigraphist. The grafitti, for example, were engraved to be known only by a stick number of persons, in secret. At the Roman city of Conimbriga, someone wrote that Duatius was a fellator! And, at Salacia, a very secret tabella defixionis was discovered, but his text is purposely not easy to be understood.
