Obra, Expressão, Manifestação e Item nas FRBR, RDA e BIBFRAME

Abstract

Nos catálogos bibliográficos realizam-se pesquisas que recuperam os documentos presentes num fundo. As pesquisas através de motores de busca apresentam-nos recursos ilimitados, mas nem sempre fiáveis. Esta dissertação pretende, através de uma obra existente nos catálogos da Universidade de Coimbra, a obra “Amor de Perdição” de Camilo Castelo Branco, comparar o conceito de obra no catálogo Millennium e o conceito de obra no modelo BIBFRAME. Para cumprir o objetivo deste estudo foi efetuada uma revisão da literatura sobre catálogos bibliográficos, as FRBR, o RDA e o BIBFRAME. Foram contextualizados no âmbito histórico e analisados os conceitos de obra, expressão, manifestação e item nas FRBR e RDA e os conceitos de obra, instância e item no BIBFRAME. Apresentou-se ainda um estudo de caso com o intuito de entender se o conceito de obra está presente nos registos bibliográficos da base Millennium. Fez-se também a comparação do conceito de obra no modelo BIBFRAME e do conceito de obra no catálogo Millennium. Seguidamente compararam-se os conceitos de instância e item no modelo BIBFRAME e as descrições bibliográficas na base Millennium; compararam-se as relações obra-autor-assunto no modelo BIBFRAME e na Base Millennium. Verificou-se por fim se existem ligações da obra “Amor de Perdição” na Web semântica e na base Millennium. Conclui-se que no modelo BIBFRAME está presente o conceito de obra, mas nos registos bibliográficos da base Millennium esse conceito de obra ainda é inexistente. Além disto, os conceitos de instância e item correspondem à descrição bibliográfica e registo de exemplar na base Millennium. Constatou-se também que as relações obra-autor-assunto existem no modelo BIBFRAME e que por outro lado na base Millennium existe a relação obra-assunto, mas não a relação obra-autor. Por último, as ligações Web no modelo BIBFRAME existem e são uma das razões de ser da utilização destes modelos e na base Millennium não existem ligações Web.

In the current bibliographic catalogs, we carry out searches that retrieve the documents present in a fund. Searches through search engines present us with unlimited but not always reliable resources. This dissertation intends through a work existing in the catalogs of the University of Coimbra, the Work "Amor de Perdição" by Camilo Castelo Branco, compare the concept of Work in the Millennium catalog and the concept of Work in the BIBFRAME model.To achieve the objective of this study, a review of literature on bibliographic catalogs, FRBR, RDA and BIBFRAME was carried out. The concepts of Work, Expression, Manifestation and Item in the FRBR and RDA and the concepts of Work, Instance and Item in BIBFRAME were analyzed and were contextualized in the historical context.A case study was also presented to understand whether the concept of Work is present in the bibliographical records of the Millennium Catalog. The concept of Work was compared in the BIBFRAME model and the concept of Work in the Millennium Catalog. Next we compared the concepts of Instance and Item in the BIBFRAME model and the bibliographic descriptions in the Millennium Catalog. Comparison of author-subject relations in the BIBFRAME and Millennium Catalog models. It was also verified if there were links to the Work "Amor de Perdição" in the Semantic Web and the Millennium Catalog.We conclude that in the BIBFRAME model the concept of Work is present, but in the bibliographical records of the Millennium Catalog this concept of Work is not present.Furthermore, the concepts of Instance and Item correspond to the bibliographic description and registration of the sample in the Millennium Catalog. Also, work-author-subject relationships exist in the BIBFRAME model whereas at the Millennium Catalog, there is the work-subject relationship, but not the work-author relationship.Finally, Web links in the BIBFRAME model exist and are one of the reasons for using these models. At the Millennium Catalog, there are no Web links.
