Estudo de Validação da Versão Portuguesa do Inventory of the Dimensions of Emerging Adulthood (IDEA)Resumo: A entrada na vida adulta tem sofrido alterações marcantes, provocadas por transformações sociodemográficas dos contextos sociais (e.g., prolongamento dos estudos, adiamento do casamento). De modo a contribuir para a compreensão da adultez emergente em Portugal, a presente investigação tem como principal objetivo avaliar as propriedades psicométricas do Inventory of the Dimensions of Emerging Adulthood – IDEA (Reifman, Arnett, & Colwell, 2007). O protocolo de investigação foi aplicado a uma amostra de 330 adultos emergentes portugueses, com idades compreendidas entre os 18 e os 30 anos. A análise fatorial do IDEA replicou a estrutura original do instrumento (31 itens distribuídos por seis dimensões), revelando a versão portuguesa bons valores de consistência interna e de estabilidade temporal. Os resultados mostraram correlações positivas entre o IDEA e a satisfação com a vida, assim como com a orientação para o futuro. Foi ainda possível verificar neste estudo que o nível socioeconómico do agregado familiar, a forma de coabitação e a situação laboral parecem influenciar a identificação com a adultez emergente. Com este estudo verificou-se que a versão portuguesa do IDEA constitui uma medida fiável de investigação e de aplicação clínica, obteve-se uma caracterização da adultez emergente no contexto português e sugerem-se futuras linhas de investigação. Validation Study of the Portuguese Version of Inventory of the Dimensions of Emerging Adulthood (IDEA) Abstract: The entry into adulthood has undergone marked changes, brought about by sociodemographic transformations of social contexts (e.g., extension of studies, postponement of marriage). In order to contribute to the understanding of the emerging adulthood in Portugal, the present research has as main objective to evaluate the psychometric properties of the Inventory of the Dimensions of Emerging Adulthood – IDEA (Reifman, Arnett, & Colwell, 2007). The research protocol was applied to a sample of 330 Portuguese emerging adults, aged between 18 and 30 years. The factor analysis of IDEA replicated the original structure of the instrument (31 items distributed in six dimensions), revealing the Portuguese version good values of internal consistency and temporal stability. The results showed positive correlations between IDEA and life satisfaction, as well as future orientation. It was also possible to verify that the socioeconomic level of the household, the form of cohabitation and the occupational status seem to influence the identification with the emerging adulthood. In this study it was verified that the Portuguese version of the IDEA is a reliable measure for research and clinical applications, a characterization of the emerging adulthood in the Portuguese context was obtained and future lines of investigation are suggested.
