Escavações arqueológicas na zona Norte de Conimbriga: resultados das campanhas de 2013 e 2015-16. Caracterização das ocupações e atividades produtivas.

Abstract

O Anfiteatro de Conimbriga, identificado desde 1971, tem sido alvo de várias intervenções arqueológicas, durante as últimas décadas. Com o intuito de se aprofundar o conhecimento sobre este edifício, foi realizada uma nova intervenção em 2015/2016. O presente relatório sintetiza os resultados obtidos nesta escavação arqueológica, durante a qual se pôs a descoberto duas salas amplas pertencentes a um edifício de índole doméstica, adossado à muralha tardia. Ao longo deste relatório faz-se uma análise arquitetónica do edifício, e da estrutura que identificamos como um forno metalúrgico. Assim com também um estudo do material cerâmico de armazenamento, metais, artefactos em osso e outros materiais, recolhidos na sondagem por nós realizada, e na sondagem de 2013. Pretende-se proporcionar, através dos dados obtidos, uma síntese das ocupações do edifício e as atividades produtivas nele desenvolvidas. ########################################################################################################################################################################################################################################################################################################################################################################################################################################################################################################################################################################################################################

The Conimbriga Amphitheater, identified since 1971, has been the target of several archaeological interventions during the last decades. To deepen the knowledge about this building, a new intervention was carried out in 2015/2016. This report summarizes the results of this archaeological excavation, during which two large rooms belonging to a domestic building were discovered, attached to the late wall. Throughout this report we make an architectural analysis of the building, and of the structure that we identify as a metallurgical furnace. And, a study of the ceramic storage material, metals, bone artifacts and other materials, collected in the survey conducted by us, and in the 2013 survey. It is intended to provide, through the data obtained, a synthesis of the occupations of the building and the productive activities developed in it.############################################################################################################################################################################################################################################################################################################################################################################################################################################################################################################################################################################################################################################################################################################################
