Relatórios de Estágio e Monografia intitulada “Terapia Molecular em Doenças Neurodegenerativas: rAAVs e Doença de Alzheimer”

Abstract

Os presentes relatórios vão apresentar uma análise SWOT (acrónimo de Pontos Fortes (Strengths), Pontos Fracos (Weaknesses), Oportunidades (Opportunities) e Ameaças (Threats)), cujo objectivo é sintetizar uma análise crítica relativa à frequência e integração da aprendizagem nos estágios, bem como à adequação do curso às perspectivas profissionais futuras. No relatório de estágio em Farmácia Comunitária também serão incluídos casos clínicos que valorizaram a minha aprendizagem e permitiram a integração dos meus conhecimentos teóricos na prática da frequência de estágio. No relatório de estágio no INFARMED, I.P., pretendo destacar a sua importância, e da DAM-UIM, no serviço público, realizando uma reflexão crítica e pessoal relativamente aos conhecimentos adquiridos durante estes três meses de estágio, e de que forma se reflectirão no meu futuro percurso profissional.A presente monografia aborda o tema da Terapia Molecular no tratamento das Doenças Neurodegenerativas, e em especial na Doença de Alzheimer. Trata-se de uma doença neurodegenerativa progressiva crónica, que se manifesta principalmente na idade avançada, cujo tratamento atual disponível é farmacológico e apenas sintomático. Por isso, torna-se necessário investir em terapêuticas alternativas que evitem a progressão ou possibilitem a cura da doença. A terapia molecular emergiu assim como uma candidata, sendo que já foram realizados ensaios clínicos recorrendo aos vetores rAAVs, tendo-se obtido resultados promissores. De facto, nos últimos anos, tem-se assistido a um aumento no investimento na terapia molecular por parte da indústria farmacêutica, sugerindo que esta forma de terapia irá integrar a rotina clínica num futuro próximo. Cabe ao farmacêutico e aos outros profissionais de saúde adquirirem o conhecimento mais atual sobre o tema em questão, e esclarecer quaisquer dúvidas que os doentes possam ter relativas a esta nova realidade terapêutica.

The present reports will present a SWOT analysis (Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities and Threats), which aims to synthesize a critical analysis of the frequency and integration of learning in the traineeships, as well as the adequacy of the course to future professional perspectives. In the traineeship report at Community Pharmacy will also include clinical cases that value my learning and allowed the integration of my theoretical knowledge in the practice of the frequency of internship. In the traineeship report at INFARMED, PI, I want to highlight their importance, and of DAM-UIM, in the public service, by undertaking a critical and personal reflection on the knowledge acquired during these three months of traineeship, and how they will be reflected in my career.This monograph deals with the theme of Molecular Therapy in the treatment of Neurodegenerative Diseases, and especially in Alzheimer's Disease. It is a chronic progressive neurodegenerative disease, manifested mainly in old age, whose current treatment available is pharmacological and only symptomatic. Therefore, it is necessary to invest in alternative therapies that prevent the progression or make it possible to cure the disease. Molecular therapy has emerged as a candidate, and several clinical trials have already been performed using the rAAVs vectors, and promising results have been obtained. In fact, in recent years, there has been an increase in investment in molecular therapy by the pharmaceutical industry, suggesting that this form of therapy will integrate the clinical routine soon. It is up to the pharmacist and other healthcare professionals to acquire the most up-to-date knowledge on the subject matter and to clarify any doubts patients may have regarding this new therapeutic reality.
