A gravidez e o casal - o impacto da transição para a parentalidade na vida conjugal e sexual do casal

Abstract

A presente investigação assenta numa análise exploratória das principais alterações experienciadas pela mulher durante o período gravídico-puerperal, bem como, na análise da implicação de tais modificações na vida conjugal e sexual do casal. A gravidez constitui um período de grande complexidade, considerando a diversidade de alterações que lhe estão subjacentes. Foram, nesta investigação, analisadas alterações de ordem física, psicológica, social, conjugal e sexual. Apesar de alguns autores salientarem as transformações na relação conjugal, durante o período gravídico-puerperal, é ainda escassa a discussão sobre a sexualidade, durante esta fase, o que motivou a escolha do presente objeto de estudo. A instabilidade da relação amorosa antes da gravidez, a exclusão sentida pelo pai, as dores decorrentes do parto, a diminuição da auto-estima da mulher devida à alteração da imagem corporal, aparecem como fatores de risco. A recolha da amostra foi realizada recorrendo a um questionário, divulgado através de uma plataforma online, almejando um maior alcance. Do referido questionário constaram questões que permitissem levantar informações sobre as variáveis em estudo. Da amostra fazem parte 659 mulheres, com idades entre os 19 e os 58 anos, que foram mães, pelo menos, uma vez. Não foram estabelecidos critérios de exclusão relativamente à idade da mãe ou da criança, valorizando-se particularmente a informação sobre as mudanças sofridas pela mulher.Os resultados demonstram existir, efetivamente, um conjunto complexo de alterações na dinâmica conjugal. Sugerem, igualmente, que a retoma da vida sexual do casal após a gravidez, é definida de acordo com o estado emocional (auto-estima, perceção da imagem corporal) da mulher. Conclui-se a existência de uma associação entre o estado da relação conjugal antes da gravidez, e a sexualidade após o nascimento do bebé.

The present investigation focus on an exploratory analysis of the main changes lived by women during the pregancy and the puerperium, as well as, of the analysis of the implication of such changes in couple’s conjugality and sexuality. The pregnancy represents a period of great complexity, considering the diversity of underlying changes. In this study, there were analysed physical, psychological, social, conjugal and sexual changes. Even though some authors emphasize conjugal transformations, in this life-span period, there is still a lack of discussion about couple’s sexuality, during and after, pregnancy, which motivated subject study choice’s. The relationship instability before pregnancy, the father feeling excluded, the pain resulting from the birth, the decrease of women’s self-esteem in the aftermath of the body change, appear as some of the risk factors. The sample was collected using a questionnaire which was made available on an online plataform, seeking an wider number of subjects. This questionnaire has integrated question which could allow us to get more informations about the study variables.The sample was composed by 659 women, aged From 19 to 58 years-old, who have experienced motherhood at least, once. There was no exclusion criterion related to the mothers or children ages. In this way, is was possible to get more different information about the changes lived by women.The results suggest the effective existence of a complex range of tranformations in women’s life and conjugal dynamic. Furthermore, they show that returning to sexual life after the pregnancy, depends on the women’s emotional condition (self-esteem, body image perception). It can be concluded that there is a statistical significant association between the stage of the conjugal relationship before pregnancy, and the sexuality after the childbirth.
