Mediação de Conflitos em Contexto Escolar

Abstract

Antigamente a Escola era associada a um espaço de respeito, com regras e normas específicas, onde eram lecionadas as mais diversas matérias relativas às diferentes ciências. Como em todas as dimensões da vida humana, ocorreram várias mudanças estruturais que afetaram o funcionamento desta estrutura social, fundamental em todas as sociedades. Analisando um período mais recente, podemos constatar que as estratégias de funcionamento das escolas antes do 25 de Abril, por exemplo, eram muito diferentes das que hoje estão em funcionamento. A Escola começou a ter de se preocupar com o que antes não se preocupava, como por exemplo, o crescente número de alunos que frequentam as escolas, a multiculturalidade, a ideologia da «escola para todos», a violência escolar, os problemas familiares dos quais os alunos se fazem acompanhar, entre muitos outros com os quais a escola não se deparava antes. Hoje, a escola consegue estar presente em todas as dimensões da vida humana influenciando as relações sociais das crianças e dos jovens, a forma destas verem e viverem a vida e também o modo como estas encaram as adversidades da vida. Ao deparar-se com todos os problemas que surgem no meio escolar, a escola, sozinha, não se sente capaz de os resolver de forma eficaz, sendo por isso necessário, cada vez mais, estabelecer parcerias com as mais diversas entidades presentes na comunidade, por forma a diminuir os perigos e riscos subjacentes ao meio social. Assim, o Instituto de Apoio à Criança, criou o Gabinete de Apoio à Criança como uma estratégia de minimizar e de auxiliar as crianças, os jovens e também toda a comunidade escolar, a lidarem com as várias situações decorrentes da interação entre os vários atores sociais. Este Gabinete baseia-se em estratégias de mediação de conflitos, com o intuito de tornar os alunos capazes de lidar com as várias situações de uma forma diferente daquelas a que muitas vezes estão habituados. O Gabinete tenta ainda solucionar problemáticas como o insucesso, abandono, absentismo e violência escolar, proporcionando aos alunos um ambiente humanizado e que os ajude na sua integração social. Devido à minha formação em Sociologia e à minha experiência em lidar com crianças e jovens em risco, adquirida através dos estágios que realizei na Comissão de Proteção de Crianças e Jovens (CPCJ) da Guarda, propus realizar o meu estágio, de final de mestrado, no Instituto de Apoio à Criança de Coimbra (IAC) – Fórum Construir Juntos. Aqui, trabalhei junto dos Gabinetes de Apoio ao Aluno e à Família (GAAF’s) da Escola Inês de Castro e da Escola de Taveiro durante cerca de 4 meses, onde levei a cabo o plano estabelecido pelo IAC, sendo também minha intenção proceder a uma análise sociológica da forma de funcionamento das escolas públicas nos dias de hoje.

In the past, school was seen as a place of respect with specif rules and norms where the most diferente subjects related to the diverse sciences. As it happens with several dimensions of human life, some structural changes have taken place and they have affected these social structures, the real basis of all societies. Analizinf a more recente period we can see that the strategic functioning of school before the 25th April, for example, were very diferente from today’s ones. School had to start to worry about diferente issues as for instance the growing number of students that attended school, their diferente multicultural aspects and the ideology of a school for all, school violence, family problems that are always presente at students’ life, among many others that didn’t affected school before. Today, school i sable to be presente at all the dimensions of human life, influencing the social relationships of children and young people as well as the way they live life as well as the way they face the adversities of life. On facing the problems that affear in the school environment, school alone is not able to solve them efficiently. So it was necessary to establish more and more partnerships with the most diverse entities presente in the community to diminish the risks and dangers that exist in the social environment. So, the Instituto of Support to the Children has created a cabinet of Support to the children as a way to minimise them and help children and young people as well as the whole community to be in contact with the situations thatexist in the social environment. So, the IAC has created the Cabinet of Support to Children and Family as a strategy to minimize and help children, young people, his families and also all the school community to deal with the diferente situations coming from the interaction among the different social actors. This Cabine tis based on the strategies of measuring conflicts with the purpose of making students able to deal with the different situations in a way different from the one they were used to. The Cabinet also tries to solve problematics such as the lack of success, abandon, absentism and school violence, giving to the students a humanized environment that can help them in their social integration. Owing to my formation in sociology and to my experience in dealing with children and young people at risk, experience that I got in Commission os Protection of Children and Young People at Guarda, I made my mind to have my formation of the end of Master Degree in the IAC in Coimbra – Forum Building Together. Here I worked with the GAAF’s of Inês de Castro School and Taveiro School for about four months. There I accomplished the plan established by IAC, also intending to make a social analysis of today’s functioning of public schools nowadays.
