dc.description.abstract | The purpose of this study was to evaluate the role of Cerebroplacental Ratio (CPR) in the prediction of adverse perinatal outcomes in fetuses with Fetal Growth Restriction (FGR), with particular focus on cesarean section by nonreassuring fetal state, low fetal pH and NICU admission. This is a bibliographic review based on an electronic research through three databases. From the selected studies, it was possible to conclude that the Doppler exploration of the umbilical and middle cerebral arteries enables the assessment of the fetal oxygenation state and that the ratio between this two vessels - CPR - is an additional tool in the evaluation of adverse perinatal outcomes. It has therefore been suggested that CPR is a more sensitive marker of fetal commitment than fetal weight estimation alone, with relevance in both Small for Gestational Age (SGA) and Adequate for Gestational Age (AGA) fetuses. Although there are still some limitations in its use, namely in the development of normative information, most studies recommend the inclusion of this index in the guidelines of follow-up of fetuses with FGR, along with other indicators. Keywords: Fetal Growth Restriction ; Cerebroplacental Ratio ; Small for Gestational Age ; Perinatal Outcomes ; Urgent Cesarean Section ; Low pH in umbilical cord vessels ; Neonatal Intensive Care Unit Admission .................................................................................................................................................. | eng |
