From an epistemology of the South, which reveals and explores the world’s potential for democratic diversity, the main aim of this paper is to extend the reflective exercise on the construction of new forms of democracy based on the analysis of some novelties in the 2009 Bolivian Constitution, particularly regarding the constitutional action surounding the recognition of communitarian democracy, identifying some of its tensions and limitations.
