dc.description.abstract | In Brazil, the intensity and deepness of coloniality (of power, of knowledge and of being) have been particularly shaped by the action of an influential and intellectualized segment which imposes their points of view about the nation (post)colonial experience. Through an "elite´s hermeneutics", these “social forces” contribute to preserve, by enshrining some social interpretations, a strong dash of ethnic and racial discrimination. Crucial for the formation of the idea of Brazilianness, the “Cannibal” artists movement of the Week of Modern Art in 1922 was followed by a set of "interpretative essays" published in the following decades. Recognized “national formation authors” as Sérgio Buarque de Holanda and Caio Prado Jr. hold a "Brazilian thought" from a privileged position, combined, albeit differently, with the prevalence of modern-western epistemology (and ontology). Marked by notorious invisibility of other interpretations, this attitude greatly hinders the exercise of diatopical and pluritopical hermeneutics through intercultural translation. | por |
