Abstract

Afinal, o que é a sustentabilidade na construção? Sustentabilidade… Uma palavra que, nos dias de hoje, está na moda e passou a fazer parte da linguagem do quotidiano, inerente quer à construção, quer a variadíssimas outras áreas do saber. No entanto, não é pela corrente vulgarização da palavra que a pergunta ganha uma mais fácil resposta, pelo contrário. Para responder a esta pergunta de forma conveniente e clara, sem se deixar levar pela popularização do termo “sustentabilidade”, há que ter a mente estruturada e focada no objetivo da questão. Para isso, comece-se por tomar conhecimento da experiência que existe no domínio da sustentabilidade na construção, assim, conseguir-se-á entender o que já está estudado e as principais e mais importantes conclusões dessa experiência. Uma segunda parte da resposta será focada na construção antiga, ou seja, uma análise do que se pode considerar sustentável quando se trata de reabilitar construção já existente. Esta será uma parte muito importante, já que quando se fala em reabilitação, é-se automaticamente levado a pensar que isso será sempre mais sustentável do que uma construção nova, o que, como é objetivo provar aqui, nem sempre assim é. Por fim, o objetivo é estudar o que se pode implementar e o que deve cair em desuso, para que as novas construções sejam mais sustentáveis, tendo em atenção que a sustentabilidade na construção não se deve cingir a equipamentos, mas sim, não só aos materiais usados, como também à forma de como esses materiais são obtidos. No final, espera-se ter conseguido desmistificar o conceito de “sustentabilidade” e, através disso, tornar todo o sector da construção mais sustentável e apelativo.

However, it is not because of the current vulgarization of the word that the question gains an easier answer. To answer properly and clearly to this question, without let ourselves go by the popularization of the term "sustainability" we have to structure and focus our mind on the point of the question. For that, it starts to becoming aware of the experience that exist in the field of sustainability in construction, thus will be achieved understood what is already studied and the main and most important conclusions of these experience. A second part of the answer will be focused in old construction, that is, an analysis of what can be considered sustainable when it comes to rehabilitating existing building. This will be a very important part, since when it comes to rehabilitation, it is automatically made to think that it will always be more sustainable than new construction, which, as is proving goal here, is not always the case. Lastly, the goal is study what can be implemented and what should fall into disuse in order that new constructions will be more sustainable, taking into account that sustainability in the construction must not be confined to equipment, but the materials used and the manner of how these materials are obtained. In the end, it is expected to be achieved demystify the term "sustainability" and, thereby, make the whole construction sector more sustainable and attractive
