A mobilidade no Pólo II da Universidade de Coimbra - impacte na qualidade do ar

Abstract

A qualidade do ar é uma preocupação assumida por diversos países e instituições, em particular na Europa, que têm investido muitas das suas capacidades no apoio e criação de ferramentas que permitam avaliar os impactes negativos na qualidade do ar, fruto do excesso de tráfego rodoviário. Este estudo tem por base uma análise ao Campus do Pólo II da Universidade de Coimbra (UC), onde se pretende avaliar os hábitos de mobilidade de toda a comunidade deste campus universitário e quantificar, posteriormente, o impacte dessa mobilidade na qualidade do ar. Será utilizada uma metodologia abrangente, que permitirá conhecer a realidade existente no campus, estudando a quantidade de tráfego que circula dentro dos limites do campus e ainda conhecer as características gerais do parque automóvel existente. Esta informação será utilizada para estimar as emissões de gases através de um software adequado. Complementarmente e através da realização de um inquérito online, com garantias da existência de uma amostra representativa, serão averiguados os hábitos praticados pelos estudantes, professores, funcionários não docentes e investigadores. No final deste trabalho, será possível identificar os impactes na qualidade do ar, provenientes do tráfego rodoviário, bem como, propor cenários alternativos com o objetivo de mitigar esses impactes

The air quality is a concern of many countries and international institutions, especially in Europe, which are investing a lot of their abilities in the help and creation of tools which allow us to estimate the negative impacts in the air quality, due to the excess of road traffic. This study is based on the analysis of the Polo II Campus of the University of Coimbra, where we intend to estimate the mobility habits of this whole Campus community and, later on, quantify the impact of that mobility in the air quality. A comprehensive methodology will be used to know the reality of the Campus, to know in detail the quantity of traffic which drives inside the limits of the Campus, and the general characteristics of the existent parking lot. This information will be used to estimate the gas emissions using the appropriate software. Complementarily and through the realization of an online inquiry, with the guarantee of the existence of a representative sample, the habits of students, teachers, non-teaching staff and investigators will be investigated. At the end of this paper, it will be possible to identify the impact of the road traffic in the air quality, and to come up with alternative scenarios in order to reduce that impact
