A fotografia no álbum de família

Abstract

Este projeto de investigação analisa imagens fotográficas analógicas retiradas de álbuns de família. Esta análise está centrada na interpretação social das imagens, ou seja, na simbologia e materialidade da fotografia. Dois dos fatores mais importantes prendemse com o facto de existir sempre uma intenção na fotografia, ou seja, uma performance e a questão da troca, o facto de a fotografia ser herdada ou oferecida. A partir desta interpretação percebemos como as famílias se relacionam através de um material tão complexo. Desta forma são observados os contextos de produção, de circulação e de consumo das mesmas. A análise das fotografias no álbum de família relaciona, assim, uma identidade social com uma memória familiar. Esta relação está focada no contexto dos retornados, isto porque as fotografias recolhidas são de famílias que tiveram que fugir de Angola na época dos conflitos pela independência

This investigation analyses analogic photographic images, taken from family albums. This analysis is centered on the social interpretation of pictures, in other words, their symbology and materialness. Two of the major factors in photography holds in the fact that there is always an intention behind it, or rather, a performance and the possibility of being exchanged, the picture can be inherited or offered. From this study we can realize how families correlate to one another through something as complex as photography. In this way an observation occurs over the contexts of production, circulation and own consumption. The analysis of the photographies on the family albums, create a relationship between, a social identity with a familiar memory. This relationship is based on the retornados (refugees), once that the collected photographies are taken from families that had to run away from their country, Angola, during the independence conflicts.
