Abstract

A estrutura do presente trabalho pretende abordar a evolução histórica e conceptual da Medicina Geral e Familiar, os princípios da disciplina académica e da prática clínica, ao perfil do médico de família e, ao seu papel no contexto de exercício profissional, bem como as tendências evolutivas da prática da especialidade e a reforma estrutural do sistema de saúde em Portugal. De igual modo, a implementação efetiva da política de saúde em Timor – Leste, após a independência, se tornou real com o apoio das organizações internacionais. Muito fizeram para melhorar a qualidade dos serviços de saúde às populações. E o progresso dos serviços de saúde, o ensino, a formação e a prestação de cuidados de saúde primários constituem grandes prioridades para o Plano Estratégico do Desenvolvimento Nacional de Timor Leste. The structure of this work seeks to address the historical and conceptual evolution of General Pratice and Family Medicine, the principles of academic discipline and clinical pratice, the family doctor's profile and the role of pratice context as well as how all of the trends ultimately affect the specialty practice and structural reform of the health system in Portugal. Also, the effective implementation of health policy in Timor-Leste, after the independence, to become real with the international organizations support, many work have done to improve the quality of health services to the population. And the progress of health services, the education, the formation and provision of primary health care are a top priorities for the Timor-Leste National Strategic Development Plan.
