This study has the purpose to describe the characteristics of the articles published about emotional intelligence (EI) and leadership between 2010 and 2015. This analysis focused on 95 articles collected in three sets of databases: B-On, Proquest Psychology Journals and Proquest Education Journals. Besides the criteria which we already mentioned, the following were taken into account: authors from the articles and how often they published, the number of publications per year, analysis of the journals and the quantity of articles published, typology of articles, variables related and how there were related with EI, level of analysis, samples studied and the instruments used to measure EI. The results had shown that Boyatzis is the author that did the most publications in the analysed period (3 articles), that from the 95 analysed articles were 29 conceptual and 66 empirical and that in 2015 there were only 9 articles published. In the conceptual articles, the variable that was more often linked to EI is leadership and in the empirical articles the variable is transformational leadership. In the empirical articles EI is more often studied as independent variable and most studies are focused on the individual level of analysis. It was also found that the majority of the studies were conducted in oriental countries and that the most used instrument to measure EI was the Wong & Law Emotional Intelligence Scale (WLEIS; 2002).
