Title: | Nefropatia Diabética – Novos Fármacos | Other Titles: | Relatório de Estágio em Farmácia Comunitária | Authors: | Sequeira, Ana Rita Dias | Orientador: | Mendes, Alexandrina Maria Ferreira Santos Pinto Rodrigues, Sílvia Alexandra Lopes |
Keywords: | Nefropatias diabéticas; Medicamentos; Ensino farmacêutico; Estágios | Issue Date: | 2015 | Abstract: | A nefropatia diabética (ND) é a principal causa de doença renal crónica e de doença
renal terminal nos países desenvolvidos. (Chen, Khoury and Ziyadeh, 2013) A sua
(Wolf, Gunter and Ritz, 2003) Sendo
Diabetic nephropathy (DN) is the major cause of end-stage renal disease in the industrialized world. (Chen et al., 2013) The pathophysiology of this condition is complex because it involves a number of metabolic and biochemical changes caused by disturbed glucose homeostasis. (Wolf, Gunter and Ritz, 2003) So, hyperglycemia is a necessary prerequisite for the development of diabetic nephropathy but genetic susceptibility is also crucial for its appearance and progression. (Freedman et al., 2007) However, there are preventive measures and treatments to be followed by diabetic people, with or without complications associated, including DN. Nonetheless, a lot of urgent work still needs to be done in this field. Some therapeutic alternatives are under investigation in animal models and even in humans but, until now, none turned out to be totally satisfactory in prevention and/or in complete regression of DN. |
