Estudo da influência da comunicação entre pais e filhos no funcionamento familiar numa amostra de Angola:

Abstract

Esta é uma pesquisa de carácter exploratório sobre a influência da comunicação entre pais e filhos no funcionamento familiar, numa amostra de Angola, que teve como objetivo analisar a capacidade preditiva do COMPA-Versão Pais, enquanto medida da comunicação parental, sobre o funcionamento familiar, avaliado pelo SCORE-15. Assim, foram inqueridos 240 pais de famílias em duas etapas: com filhos na escola e com filhos adolescentes, de três regiões distintas de Angola (Benguela, Cabinda e Lubango). As análises psicométricas indicaram adequados índices de consistência para ambos instrumentos. Nesta amostra observa-se que as diferenças da perceção da comunicação dos pais em relação aos filhos apresenta significância estatística entre a região de Cabinda em relação as regiões de Benguela e Lubango. Assim, os pais com filhos adolescentes, da região de Cabinda relatam maior comunicação e consequentemente revelam melhor funcionamento no Sistema familiar, contrariamente as demais regiões. Este estudo mostrou ser confirmatório de estudos já desenvolvidos naquele contexto.

This is an exploratory study of the influence of communication between parents and children in family functioning in a sample of Angola, and aimed to assess the predictive ability of parental communication, measured by COMPA-Version Parents, on family functioning, assessed by SCORE-15. Thus, we surveyed 240 parents from families in two vital family stags: with children in school and with teenagers, from three distinct regions of Angola (Benguela, Cabinda and Lubango). Psychometric analyzes showed adequate consistency indices for both instruments. It is observed that the differences in parents’ perception of communication in relation to children are statistically significant between the region of Cabinda regarding the regions of Benguela and Lubango. The sample from Cabinda reported better communication and consequently show improved functioning in the family system, unlike other regions on stage of the life cycle. This investigation showed that confirmatory studies already developed in that context and brought a different perspective on the family system.
